The A-League featured eight clubs - Adelaide United, Central Coast Mariners, Melbourne Victory, New Zealand Knights, Newcastle United Jets, Perth Glory, Queensland Roar and Sydney FC.Football Federation Australia (renamed from the Australian Soccer Association in 2005) has transformed the game in this country. In the space of 24 months, they have set up a new and vibrant A-League (which has averaged crowds of over 11,000 - over double the previous best average in the NSL).The FFA has also taken Australia out of the Oceania Confederation and moved the nation into Asia - from 2007, two A-League clubs will compete in the tougher and financially lucrative Asian Champions League.These are interesting and exciting times for Australian football fans - the inaugural A-League Grand Final is just the start...
