Description:
When Allied forces land at Anzio, Italy, they are initially unopposed but instead of moving straight inland to reach their objective - Rome, their commanding officer instead decides to dig in and build a coastal stronghold. This decision allowed the unprepared Germans time to outflank them by enclosing the Anzio beachhead and engaging the Allies in one of the most brutal and bloody battles of WWII.
